Contact lens fitting… Really?

This lecture will explore the link between soft contact lens fitting and patient’s comfort as well as lens impact on the ocular health. Author will suggest that, nowadays, soft lenses are not really fitted, mostly because of a lack of options in lens parameters. In consequence, soft lens not optimal behaviour on the eye may lead to decreased comfort, may impact visual acuity and may alter ocular health. There are ways to do better, by considering the overall ocular surface instead of just the cornea, and to play with several lens parameters to optimize the outcome. Results from clinical studies made at U de M clinic will be provided to illustrate how customized fitted lenses can improve long term success rate and to improve soft lens wearers journey.
